WOVEN FOOTWEAR

A couple of months ago I posted about the spring/summer footwear trends to look out for on the high st and one of the key fabric options for fringe detailed shoes, featured on the catwalk was woven leather. Burberry used the style heavily in their S/S12 catwalk show.

This look has now become a trend of it's own with numerous retailers adopting the 1970's inspired style and working it onto loafers, espadrilles, sandals and formal footwear options.

To get the1970s inspired look go for a woven shoe in tan. This colour will go with the current Aztec trend and the global traveller look.

ORANGE

Orange. Yes, orange!

Don't run away just yet, it's not as scary as it sounds. Whispers of this zesty colour making an appearance this A/W have been prominent since the designers showcased their collections earlier in 2011. The colour was cleverly used by a handful of designers to create an instant impact in their catwalk shows, and it did just that. So much so, that ever since, everyone has been predicting it's appearance on the high street and finally it has arrived!

There's no doubting the fact that this colour will present a challenge, but if worn with caution there should be something here for everyone. Here are the basic rules that I will be following:
1. As a ginger, orange on the top half is a HUGE no-no. Unless you are doing a Carrot or Orange for fancy dress - avoid at all costs. If in doubt, google 'Catherine Tate Gingers For Justice' and watch the clip for yourself!
2. Orange accessories are a cool, easy to wear way of keeping up with the trend without over doing it. I love the Topman bracelet and Nike hi-tops featured below.
3. Unless you want to look like a glowstick - do not wear with yellow/pink/green or any neon!

S/S12 - BURBERRY PRORSUM

Here is a quick look at Burberry's S/S12 collection. As with Nicole Farhi's collection, mustard is prominent feature in the collection which indicates that the current trend that we're seeing on the high st will continue through to next season. So think about those investment pieces when buying anything mustard!

Also I'm loving the bold crazy prints in the shorts and the knitwear as they're worn with classic pieces like slim fit trousers making the outfit really wearable. I'm slightly in love with the woven loafers too!
