STRIPES

Nothing says Spring quite like stripes. Year on year we see a nautical look on the high st in the run up to Spring. The red, white and blue colour palette always look fresh against the cold backdrop of winter.


Whilst we're not quite in Spring yet, stripes are making an appearance in stores now with long sleeve jersey tops and jumpers. Wear them with chinos or jeans with your winter coat for a transitional look.

CHRISTMAS JUMPER

I know it's only October but the high st is now in the run up to the busiest trading time of the year, Christmas!

Christmas is all about fun for me and I am guilty as charged for enjoying a novelty jumper on Christmas day! Imagine my delight to find some great Christmas jumpers on the high st already! You can expect to see knitwear with snowflake and fairisle prints in the run up but for me however, nothing says Christmas quite like reindeer prints!

TGIF!! Here are my top 3 picks from the high st this week.

ZARA £25.99

As soon as I seen this jumper online, I rushed out to Zara to buy myself one! I LOVE it. The raw edge around the neck line isn't clear in the picture but it gives the jumper a slightly vintage/worn look - it's as if you've had it for years - in a good way! What I love the most about it, is that it's very current (colour block trend) but the colours and the detail allow it to be a piece that will last probably through seasons to come.

I love the colour of these new chinos from Asos. Coloured jeans are making a comeback across the high st and I think that these are a great alternative if you don't feel confident in coloured skinny denim.

HUMOR @ URBAN OUTFITTERS £65

Now that the cold weather has arrived, I've been starting to wear shirts a lot more as part of my casual wardrobe and I think that this one from Humor will become a welcomed addition. I really like the split level pocket detail and the over sized buttons add interest to what otherwise would be ANOTHER check shirt.

MUSTARD

Mustard is my favourite colour at the moment. It's a great colour to liven up your winter wardrobe without being too brash. It was seen in numerous A/W collections including Burberry and Jil Sander and is all over the high street. Also the colour looks set to be big in Spring 2012 so buy pieces that can be transitional.

FAIRISLE

 

Fairisle is a knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colours and it originates from a tiny island north of Scotland also called Fair Isle. 

For me, fairisle IS A/W. It makes me think of snow tipped mountains, log cabins and of course Christmas!

You'll see fairisle prints across men's knitwear and winter accessories all through the season, with more Christmas inspired patterns appearing closer to December.
