SHEARLING

Shearling is a big trend for women this A/W and is slowly building year on year for men. Last year we seen it feature when the aviator jacket made a bit of a comeback. This year however it is seen not only as trims on outerwear but as a key detail for bags and boots. 

The cost of the item will depend on the authenticity of the shearling although on the high st you can expect to see predominantly synthetic shearling.

Mansnaps is 1 month old TODAY!!! 

Although it feels like I've been doing this for much longer than just four weeks, I wanted to take this opportunity to say 'THANK YOU' to all of you that have visited the blog and continue to do so.

When I started this blog, I wanted to share my views on what I call 'accessible fashion'. By this, I mean featuring clothes that are currently available to buy and also clothes that every man can easily obtain. There is a lot of focus in the media towards where women can buy affordable fashion and if you go into any newsagents you will see countless weekly magazines targeting this market. However, I feel that men are often sidelined and the only taste of fashion we're sold is high end, designer labels through GQ/Attitude/FHM etc style editions. Personally, I don't know many men that can afford designer labels or can wear some of the designer looks... and from this, Mansnaps was born.

The response to the blog has been amazing so far. I never expected to have thousands of page views within a month!! Or to receive such great feedback! I hope that you continue to follow the blog and continue to tell other men interested in fashion that Mansnaps is somewhere for the everyman.

PICKS OF THE WEEK

What a week! We've had the best padded gilets from the high st, Chris Martin, Burberry, Christmas jumpers and Versace for H&M!!

It's Friday today though so not only is it the start of the weekend, but it's time for my top 3 picks of the week.

ZARA £19.99

 

 

My first pick of the week is this Steve McQueen print tee from Zara. Over the years Zara has done tshirt collections of Gaga, Jaws and James Bond and they're continuing with a collection of prints of Steve McQueen. I love the simplicity of the print and I always find Zara have amazing quality tshirts.

ASOS £38

The closer we get to Christmas, the more you can expect to see grey and black jeans in stores as the high st prepares for that Christmas party look. I like the skinny carrot cut of these jeans and the zip detail on the pocket along with the abrasions give them an edge. Love them with the hiking boots too!

RIVER ISLAND £10

For the past few weeks I've been talking about yellow being a big colour on the high st and River Island continue the trend with this colour being introduced to a basic tee. I mentioned in my Burberry post to consider 'investment pieces' when buying yellow, to me this is a perfect example. I know what you're probably thinking, "a £10 tee is an investment?" Consider it in stock terms rather than it's monetary value - This is something that you might buy now but it's also something that you can wear again at the height of the trend in S/S12.

VERSACE FOR H&M

On the 17th November H&M will launch its new collection, a collaboration with fashion house Versace.

Over the years, H&M has worked with numerous fashion designers from Lanvin, Jimmy Choo, Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney and Roberto Cavalli to name but a few. Personally I feel that this collaboration with Versace embraces the essence of the brand perfectly whilst still maintaining H&M affordability

The collection is very concise and very Versace!! Expect to see graphic prints, shirts and tees, embellishment, leather, tropical prints and a key colour palette of cerise, turquoise, green and black.

S/S12 - BURBERRY PRORSUM

Here is a quick look at Burberry's S/S12 collection. As with Nicole Farhi's collection, mustard is prominent feature in the collection which indicates that the current trend that we're seeing on the high st will continue through to next season. So think about those investment pieces when buying anything mustard!

Also I'm loving the bold crazy prints in the shorts and the knitwear as they're worn with classic pieces like slim fit trousers making the outfit really wearable. I'm slightly in love with the woven loafers too!

 

GET THE LOOK

I've never really noticed Chris Martin's style before so was slightly surprised to take interest of what he wore to yesterdays Q Awards. Coldplay won The Best Act In The World Today award which I'm sure will split opinion, but to be honest I'm more interested in Chris Martin's outfit.

CHRISTMAS JUMPER

I know it's only October but the high st is now in the run up to the busiest trading time of the year, Christmas!

Christmas is all about fun for me and I am guilty as charged for enjoying a novelty jumper on Christmas day! Imagine my delight to find some great Christmas jumpers on the high st already! You can expect to see knitwear with snowflake and fairisle prints in the run up but for me however, nothing says Christmas quite like reindeer prints!
