TOURIST PRINTS

Tourist print tops are a big trend at the moment. Like a love letter to your favourite city, you can expect to see vests, t shirts and jumpers printed with bold images and print.

As the Olympics approaches I suspect that this will have an impact onto some of the prints as the trend evolves. Next already has some vintage Olympic prints on t shirts.

HOLLOWAY ROAD

River Island has gone back to its roots with it's new in-house designed menswear label, Holloway Road. 

River Island was created in 1948 by brothers David and Bernard Lewis and was known as Lewis Separates. Over the years it has been known as Chelsea Girl and Concept Man before becoming River Island in 1988. 

The name Holloway Road comes from the location of Lewis Seperates and the collection digs deep into the brands heritage. Rugged yet comfortable, the colour palette is understated and the fabrics are hard wearing, made for the hard working modern man.

I have yet to dedicate an entire post to one store but I feel that this one is really deserved.

Launched in 1986 as Best Jeans, Republic has come on leaps and bounds over the years and more recently has become a credible high st brand.

I can't say that I am a fan of clothing which has been heavily branded so there are a few brands in Republic that I'm not that interested in. However I am really impressed with their White Label, Crafted and Fabric of Life brands.

White Label is their best selling lines, which they have bought in volume so it means that they can sell them on at bargain prices! Shirts from £10 and Chinos from £20 in great fits are hugely competitive against the rest of the high st right now.

Crafted is my favourite brand in Republic at the moment. I can not get enough of the twisted chinos! I'm loving all their printed t shirts too and again the price points are amazing. The quilted jacket for £39.99 in particular is a bargain!

PICKS OF THE WEEK

What a week! We've had the best padded gilets from the high st, Chris Martin, Burberry, Christmas jumpers and Versace for H&M!!

It's Friday today though so not only is it the start of the weekend, but it's time for my top 3 picks of the week.

My first pick of the week is this Steve McQueen print tee from Zara. Over the years Zara has done tshirt collections of Gaga, Jaws and James Bond and they're continuing with a collection of prints of Steve McQueen. I love the simplicity of the print and I always find Zara have amazing quality tshirts.

ASOS £38

The closer we get to Christmas, the more you can expect to see grey and black jeans in stores as the high st prepares for that Christmas party look. I like the skinny carrot cut of these jeans and the zip detail on the pocket along with the abrasions give them an edge. Love them with the hiking boots too!

RIVER ISLAND £10

For the past few weeks I've been talking about yellow being a big colour on the high st and River Island continue the trend with this colour being introduced to a basic tee. I mentioned in my Burberry post to consider 'investment pieces' when buying yellow, to me this is a perfect example. I know what you're probably thinking, "a £10 tee is an investment?" Consider it in stock terms rather than it's monetary value - This is something that you might buy now but it's also something that you can wear again at the height of the trend in S/S12.

MUSTARD

Mustard is my favourite colour at the moment. It's a great colour to liven up your winter wardrobe without being too brash. It was seen in numerous A/W collections including Burberry and Jil Sander and is all over the high street. Also the colour looks set to be big in Spring 2012 so buy pieces that can be transitional.
